Moving from Center

Sunday, May 2nd, at 10:30 am

Moving from Center will be primarily experiential. Participants will begin to tune inwards, finding the source of the movement from within rather than following what their head’s may say movement or dance should look like.

Helping participants find an anchoring space within and begin to notice, with curiosity, how they can loose that anchored center when they move into relationship and into the world…..and encouraging a nonjudgemental return to that interior place of grounding.

Feeling a sense of safety with exploring movement/dance in a group, including seeing others, being seen, and experiencing the safety of the container of the group.

All participation will be voluntary, and alternatives will be provided to assure that participants are maintaining their own sense of safety and security….trusting their body will let them know what it wants at that time. In this way, it is also about compassionately tuning in to the body’s needs, not forcing, while maintaining present moment-to-moment awareness. Skills will also be taught to return to presence, if/when attention moves away from a current state of safety.

About Lynne Herbert and Soul in Motion

Lynne Herbert, LPC has been a licensed counselor for the past 20 years. She opened the Attachment Center of Central Oregon in Bend in 2006, where she has providing attachment-focused work with clients while also working through past trauma with AEDP, DDP, EMDR and IFS approaches. Over the years, Lynne’s work has become increasingly somatically-focused, mirroring her own areas of growth outside of the office. Lynne was a regular attendee at dance workshops, meditation retreats, and enjoyed athletic pursuits in nature as a standard practice to regulate herself to do her work with clients. She pulled from those experiences and the knowledge she has gained from various teachers to create Soul in Motion. In 2020, Lynne spent the year studying primarily with Soul Motion™, completing their year-long Embodied Leadership program. She continues to explore movement and dance with various teachers, but feels most drawn to the internally-driven, intuitive, and mindful approach of Soul Motion™. More information can also be found at the above link or: http://www.attachco.com/

Soul in Motion is a body-based mindfulness practice, focused on movement and dance started in Bend in January 2020. Soul in Motion asks participants to relax their intellect, quiet their brain, and connect with the messages received internally.  Like other forms of mindfulness practice, Soul in Motion is helping develop the skill of pausing, tuning in, being more connected with self in relationship with the world, and more empathic and compassionate with that interior experience. With presence and engagement, while looking through a lens of curiosity and playfulness, participants learn to attune to the inherent knowledge of their body, rather than reacting to or responding from it’s perceptions unconsciously.

It is not therapy but has therapeutic elements as this experiential approach reveals emotions and patterns of relating and engaging with oneself and others…..using the dance floor as practice for how to move in the world.

Soul in Motion was formed by Lynne’s many years as a therapist, using the insight gained through working through clients in that way. It is also informed by Soul Motion™, 5 Rhythms, psychodrama, and meditation and breathwork. More information can be found at: https://soulinmotionbend.com/
